Best Places To Live Off The Grid In Louisiana ( Top 6 Counties )

Louisiana is a very good state for off grid living, and there are a lot of off grid communities in this state. Louisiana has everything that you would need for off grid living, plenty of freshwater, a long growing season, and most importantly cheap property prices. In addition to this, the low taxes tend to draw to this state a lot of people who want to live off the grid or to homestead. You can live off the grid in the entire state of Louisiana although there are some areas and counties which are definitely better.

The best places to live off the grid in Louisiana are the ones that are relatively far from the coast. Counties like Claiborne Parish, Caddo Parish, Cameron Parish, East Baton Rouge Parish, Ouachita Parish, and Tensas Parish are excellent for living off the grid due to their unique geographical position and low cost of property.

As a general rule, the best places for living off the grid are in the northern parts, although there are some counties in the southern parts as well which tend to be fairly good for off grid living. If you are from the southern parts of the country then you will have no problem adjusting to Louisiana’s climate. On the other hand, if you are from the northern parts of the country you might find the local climate to be unbearable.

The biggest problem with living off the grid in Louisiana is the humidity, you will often see black mold growing inside the older buildings, and getting rid of it is almost impossible. If you are planning to buy property in Louisiana then make sure to check for mold, especially if the property is located near the coast.
